Ok, so Bingley isn’t exactly close to where I live in Boston Spa – but I can vouch for the fact that with The Potting Shed pub there, it’s definitely worth the drive.
We were very kindly invited to sample the brand new menu, which consists of some very familiar gastro pub fare… as well as some unusual tweaks to old favourites which I’ll mention shortly (just to keep you hanging).
We were seated in the beautiful balcony area which has a fantastic gin bar – the owners told me that this is a ‘pop up’ bar and the theme of this will change regularly (though I’d be happy if it was gin forever!)
The theme of the event was a Potting Shed ‘supper club’ so all the bloggers shared the food that was brought out – but there was no shortage of it as it just kept coming.
First of all, out came some delicious canapés to kick off proceedings – mini pastry shells containing goats cheese and tomato. As pretty as a painting. As delicious as they look here…
The pizza was a generous size and loaded with cheese, chicken and red onion, whilst the base was thin and crispy (just how I like it). When the sliders were served on a large board, all us bloggers got just a little bit excited – the meat was very juicy indeed and the brioche bun was soft, buttery and melt in your mouth.
Ok, I’ve kept you waiting long enough…
The star of the show, for me, was the Yorkshire pudding burger with blue cheese. Yes, you heard that right; a beef patty with melted blue cheese encased in a Yorkshire pudding bun. Unfortunately, by this point, I was so full that I could not finish it. But this alone is worth the trip over to Bingley.
If you haven’t been to The Potting Shed yet, please do give it a try. I think it would make for a fabulous place to devour late lunch after a long country walk in the surrounding countryside.
You might be rolling home though…
